| Department of Corrections administration react to recent escapees |

"Anybody that leaves concerns me," said South Dakota Department of Corrections Secretary Denny Kaemingk. We've heard it time and time again -- a minimum security inmate not returning to their unit. These inmates have a choice. They can follow the rules and return to their units or choose to break them and suffer the consequences. "We are very up front and forthwith in South Dakota. When we have someone that walks away, we report it to the news media immediately. There are many states that do not do that,"Kaemingk. The latest minimum security inmate escapee -- Clinton Eldeen. He was found Wednesday in Minnesota after he allegedly three banks. "When someone walks away from a minimum unit, it's going to end badly for them. They're going to come back and they're going to do more time. When you walk away from a minimum facility it is a class five felony where you can get five years imprisonment on that class five felony," said Kaemingk. Read More. |
