| Tippecanoe Juvenile Court launches summer youth initiatives |

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) — Tippecanoe County’s Juvenile Court has launched two new summer initiatives aimed at improving relationships between young people and the police. The first one centers around community policing. Off-duty Lafayette police officers will interact in neighborhoods to build positive relationships. “We are looking forward to just dropping by to talk to kids and families in non-crisis situations,” said LPD Capt. Kurt Wolf in a statement. “This will provide us an opportunity to build relationships. Ultimately, we want kids to learn to run to us, not from us.” Tippecanoe County Superior Court Judge Faith Graham said, “If we can develop those positive relationships between law enforcement in our community so they’re not always just around when there’s a crisis, maybe people will come to the police to avoid those crises in the future.” Read More. |
