| West Virginia DMAPS Researching Use of Tablets in Correctional Facilities |

West Virginia's Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety has begun research to bring in handheld tablets for inmates in correctional facilities around the state to use. This research is extremely preliminary, and the department will be visiting another facility in Tennessee to see what effect the tablets have on the population there. "Several states, including Ohio and Virginia, offer handheld tablets for sale to inmates," the Department's Communications Director Lawrence Messina said. "These are built specifically for correctional populations: they're very bare bones. One thing they can do is help provide some of the required programming to inmates." Read More. |
