A fight between two inmates Tuesday morning at a Northern Nevada prison spurred a guard-involved shooting that left three inmates wounded, according to the Nevada Department of Corrections. The fight broke out about 8 a.m. Tuesday in the general population yard at Lovelock Correctional Center, the department of corrections wrote in a release Tuesday evening. Two inmates were fighting and ignored guards' repeated demands to stop fighting. Two gun post officers fired a blank "popper" round before "skipping" three live rounds into the fighting inmates. A third popper round was fired before more jail staff responded and were able to separate the fighting inmates, the release said. Read More. |
