MOUNTAIN CITY, TN (WJHL) A state prison in Mountain City, Tennessee remains on lock down two days after inmates assaulted a prison employee.

Now, we’re learning that more than one staff member has been injured by inmates at the Northeast Correctional Complex within the last few weeks.

A News Channel 11 investigation found there have been six assaults on staff at the state prison in Mountain City in the past 30 days. A state department of corrections spokesman said the assaults occurred in three separate unrelated incidents at NECC. In two of the incidents, one inmate assaulted one staff member. In the third incident, multiple inmates injured four staff members.

Despite the string of assaults, the Tennessee Department of Corrections says there’s been a 29% decrease in assaults on staff by prison inmates in this fiscal year.
