LOVELOCK, Nev. (MyNews4.com & KRNV)--The Lovelock Correctional Center was placed on lockdown Tuesday morning after guards had to fire live rounds in the prison yard.

The Nevada Department of Corrections reported that a fight broke out between two inmates in the prison yard around 8 a.m. and officers had to fire their weapons to break it up.

A Department of Corrections Press release explained the incident in greater detail, saying that the inmates were given verbal commands to stop. When they continued fighting, officers fired a blank popper round. A live round was "skipped into the fighting inmates with no results." Two more live rounds were shot off before officers managed to stop the fight.
