Corrections officials say the situation is almost back to normal on Mississippi's death row, which has battled the lack of drinking water and electrical outages this week in the prison that lacks air-conditioning. From last weekend until Thursday, they said death row and Parchman's Unit 29, where 1,412 inmates are housed, were without drinking water from their sinks. The Health Department on Thursday declared the water safe to drink. Lawyers and family members told The Clarion-Ledger Thursday that the electricity had partly gone out, too, on some hallways in Unit 29.
