| Inmate found hanging at jail dies |

A 42-year-old man found hanging in his cell at the Schenectady County, N.Y., Jail has died, authorities said. Christopher Abaire was taken off life support at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady and died last Sunday, Sheriff Harry Buffardi said. Abaire had been found shortly after midnight hanging from a noose made with several socks tied together. The Schenectady man was arrested Sept. 27 on a rape charge. District Attorney Robert Carney said a grand jury last week began hearing the case against Abair alleging sex crimes against children. |
