The New Hampshire Department of Corrections has been named recipient of the Pro Patria Award. Pro Patria is Latin for For the Country. The most prestigious honor bestowed by the New Hampshire Committee, Department of Defense, Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), the award recognizes the corrections department's outstanding support of employees deployed in military operations. The award was one of several given out at ceremonies during the ESGR's annual meeting Jan. 21 at the St. Anselm College Institute of Politics. Of the Department of Corrections' 1,300 employees, more than 45 are, or have been, deployed in National Guard or Reserve units. The DOC, as does all state agencies, pays the service personnel the difference between their military salary and the wages they receive in their state job. Corrections Commissioner Steven Curry was recognized for the proactive program he developed to assimilate returning veterans in the civilian sector as seamlessly as possible. The Department has been the recipient of awards from the New Hampshire Committee, ESGR, more than 50 times. |

This article exposed what it is like to exist in today’s correctional institutions. I enjoy reading articles like this one and articles from author Hamilton Lindley who is an expert at persuasion, influence and leadership from his Waco, Texas base. There are a lot of important lessons to be learned here for sure. Thank you for the insight.
