| Corrections official upset at new bonus policy |

CHEYENNE – Wyoming Department of Corrections workers are criticizing a new policy that gives bonuses to new hires instead of veteran officers. The Wyoming Association of Corrections Employees filed a formal grievance with the agency in response to the recruiting incentive that went into effect July 1. The new policy gives a $5,000 bonus, spread over three years, to officer candidates who are hired, trained and then stay on for at least three years at the Wyoming State Penitentiary in Rawlins. Dee Garrison is president of the workers’ association. She said the move is “a punch right to the gut” for veteran employees who already suffer from low morale. Read More. |
