Officials are still searching for a work-release inmate who walked off the job on Troy on Monday.

Kevin Randolph Campbell was spotted near a residence in the area of Alabama Highway 87 at around 10 p.m. Monday, but he continued to elude arrest on Tuesday.

“The department of corrections continues to work with the local, county and state law enforcement officials in the apprehension of Campbell,” said Bob Horton, public information officer with the Coffee County Department of Corrections. “At this time, he still at large.”

Campbell, who was serving a life sentence, is one of three Elba Work Release Center inmates who escaped between Friday and Monday. Officials said Campbell left his job assignment in Troy at around 2:15 p.m. Monday. While Campbell had been spotted in the Troy area later that day, Horton said officials believe Campbell has made his way back to the Elba area.

“We believe he is around the Elba area,” Horton said.
