| Reality show featuring NM prison debuts Thursday |

SANTA FE, N.M. —It's a tough job, but someone has to do it. Correctional officers at the Penitentiary of New Mexico in Santa Fe are starring in A&E’s “Behind Bars: Rookie Year,” which debuts Thursday at 8 p.m. Cameras follow the officers in their first year on the job, showing the viewers the many dangers and obstacles. Those officers receive some of the best training in the country, and that is why this new television show decided to shoot in our state. The prison is home to 850 inmates, most of them in for violent crimes. “You can't show them that you're scared to do this,” said Officer Carlos Rivera in one of the episodes. “But you are scared."
