A Lansing Correctional Facility inmate has been sentenced to an additional four years in prison for a 2014 escape. Ronald J. Emons, 53, was sentenced Wednesday in Leavenworth County District Court to 50 months, or four years and two months, for a charge of aggravated escape from custody. Emons escaped July 7, 2014, from the Lansing Correctional Facility when he walked away from a prison work crew. He was apprehended later that day by staff at Fort Leavenworth. He pleaded no contest to the charge June 24. By law, the 50-month sentence will have to run consecutive to the one Emons already is serving. Emons was convicted in 2010 in Atchison County of attempted aggravated indecent liberties with a child between 14-16 years of age. He initially was placed on probation for the crime but was sent to prison after violating his probation. He later was paroled but returned to prison after violating parole, according to information posted on a Kansas Department of Corrections website. Read More. |
