More Counties to Keep State Inmates

Twelve more Mississippi counties will keep state inmates in local work programs without reimbursement from the state, according to the state corrections officials.

Counties are allowed to keep the inmates in work programs but the Department of Corrections will not reimburse them for expenses related to housing, education and alcohol and drug treatment. MDOC still will provide and pay for medical care.
