| Rauner looks to Iowa for new Corrections chief |

SPRINGFIELD – Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner may be considering naming the former chief of Iowa's corrections department to oversee Illinois' massively overcrowded prison system. Although a Rauner spokesman had no comment Wednesday, the Herald & Review Springfield Bureau has learned that John Baldwin's name has been floated by the administration as a potential nominee for the $150,300-per-year post. Baldwin stepped down as chief of Iowa's prison system in January after spending more than 42 years with the state. He would replace acting Corrections' chief Gladyse Taylor, who has served in the top spot in Illinois since the surprising departure of Rauner's first pick to run the agency. Read More. |
