| Prisons director releases post-riot plan |

LINCOLN — The state's prisons director Thursday released a plan to address issues that came to light in the wake of a deadly Mother's Day uprising at Tecumseh State Correctional Institution. Nearly three months later, there's far more follow-up work to be done. And the Nebraska State Patrol still hasn't completed its separate criminal investigation into the death of two inmates. But Nebraska Corrections Director Scott Frakes saw the completion of the Corrective Action Plan as cause for optimism. "Today’s announcement represents a step forward for Tecumseh, and will help ensure that the facility runs smoothly and safely," he said in a news release. "As I stated following the Critical Incident Review, the report provides a realistic assessment of the events of early May, and makes recommendations that will enhance operations across the agency."
