| Corrections secretary suspends outside work for inmates |

New Mexico Secretary of Corrections Gregg Marcantel suspended all outside work details for inmates and vowed to review departmental policies following Friday’s frantic eight-hour manhunt for a prisoner who escaped in Santa Fe. “Phase two now is taking a good look at ourselves to find out if we can grow from this,” Marcantel told reporters after authorities captured 59-year-old Raymond Ramirez of Las Vegas, N.M., at about 8:30 p.m. at a home on the city’s north side. “If we need to kick ourselves in the pants, we’re going to do that and make the adjustments necessary,” he said.
