| Officers’ information mistakenly shared was not seen, Department of Corrections says |

When personal information of more than 1,000 Illinois Department of Corrections employees was inadvertently shared, the department began an investigation. A week later, a spokesperson from the department said the information was not seen by unauthorized people. The data breach was discovered on August 14, 2015, investigators found out that a private citizen had placed a FOIA request on behalf of an inmate, according to a statement from the department. That request asked for names, job ranks/positions, and salaries of employees who worked for Dixon and Lawrence Correctional Centers during 2015’s fiscal year.
