| Atoka Co. prison escapee caught, returned to prison |

ATOKA, Okla. -- A convicted sex offender who escaped the Howard McLeod Correctional Center near Atoka on Sunday evening was caught around 9 a.m. on Monday. Onie Chambers, 58, was found by a local rancher three miles away from the prison, and was returned to McLeod Correctional Center. Chambers is now held in the segregated housing unit. The Atoka and Coal County Sheriff's Offices said Chambers escaped just after 8 o'clock Sunday night. James Speer lives a few miles away from where Chambers was found, and says he's aware of the risk that comes with living near the correctional center.
