Fourteen inmates have been released early from the Boulder County Jail to ease crowding, authorities said last Monday. The inmates, selected from a judge-approved list, were serving time for crimes including menacing, marijuana possession, assault, contempt of court, obstruction and driving under the influence, sheriff's Capt. Larry Hank said. The inmates approved for early release would have completed their sentences by Oct. 29. The jail, originally designed to house 287 inmates, had 397 inmates at the time of the releases, Hank said. Since Jan. 1, 227 inmates have been released early due to overcrowding. |
