| Bail raised to $5M for man who allegedly shot at officers |

A 25-year-old Yakima gang member accused of shooting a state corrections officer during a team effort to arrest him last week is being held on $5 million bail. Erick Romero’s bail was set at $3 million when he was ordered Tuesday in Yakima County Superior Court to be held on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder and unlawful firearms possession in connection with the Thursday standoff. The other $2 million stems from a drive-by shooting earlier in the day in which police accuse him of firing at two men in a car. Bail in recent high-profile Yakima County cases — if it is ordered — runs between $1 million and $2 million. Kevin Harper, who was suspected of killing three members of the Goggin family in 2011, was held without bail. Harper pleaded guilty to weapons and stolen property charges after the aggravated murder case was hobbled by a series of missteps by prosecutors and sheriff’s detectives. John Munzanreder, who was convicted earlier this year of killing his wife outside a Union Gap movie theater in 2013, had his bail set at $2 million.
