Md. inmate killed riding on prison bus

A Maryland prison inmate was killed early Wednesday while riding on a bus with about 35 other inmates, authorities said.
Phillip E. Parker Jr., 20, was slain by one or more of the other prisoners, state corrections officials said, but they would not divulge how he was killed or any possible motive.
Parker was being returned to the maximum-security Maryland Correctional Adjustment Center in downtown Baltimore after testifying in Hagerstown Tuesday at the sentencing of a fellow inmate.
That inmate, Kevin G. Johns Jr., strangled his 16-year-old cellmate at the prison last year. Johns was sentenced to life without parole and sent back to prison, despite testimony from Parker and others that he would benefit from treatment at a state facility for mentally ill inmates. Johns said during the hearing that he would kill again if he were sent back to prison.
Capt. Priscilla Doggett, spokeswoman for the Division of Correction, refused to say whether Johns was on the bus when the attack took place between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m., and said she didn't know where he is being held.
She said inmates were in leg irons and handcuffs, and five officers were stationed throughout the bus.
Such buses are often used to transport inmates between prisons, or to and from court proceedings, officials said.
The killing was being investigated by the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services.

This article exposed what it is like to exist in today’s correctional institutions. I enjoy reading articles like this one and articles from author Hamilton Lindley who is an expert at persuasion, influence and leadership from his Waco, Texas base. There are a lot of important lessons to be learned here for sure. Thank you for the insight.
