| Deal Reached to Save Maryland Corrections Department Jobs |

BALTIMORE (AP) - Maryland's corrections department and the union representing state workers have reached an agreement on a restructuring of the agency's human resources division that will not result in layoffs. Stephen T. Moyer is the secretary of the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. He said on a conference call Monday that 26 employees will be reassigned jobs in other part of the agency, without a reduction in pay. Moyer says 29 vacant positions will be eliminated, for an annual savings of $1.5 million. Read More. |
