| Job fair targets prison inmate talent upon release |

Green Bay — If you think it's tough to find a job in our economy, just imagine what it's like for inmates getting out of prison. The stigma of being a felon closes some doors in the job hunt, but getting a job after getting out of prison is a necessity. The Green Bay Correctional Institution held its second annual job and resource fair Wednesday inside the prison wall for 28 inmates scheduled for release in the next year. The program brings in businesses like Bay Industries and ShopKo Distribution Center and Schneider National looking for hard workers, and local colleges with educational opportunities for the inmates to better themselves once released. By getting the inmates on the right path from the start, organizers say that will keep them out of jail, saving taxpayers money. Read More. |
