| Police nab inmate who escaped from transport van |

A parolee who escaped from a transport van and stole a car is back in custody after a wild pursuit that ranged from Folsom to Fair Oaks, Calif. Wednesday afternoon. Patrick Kelley, 27, was in the back of a stopped parole transport van at Prairie City Road and US-50 in Folsom early Wednesday afternoon when he managed to escape out the back. He reportedly fled on foot into the Iron Point Drive area, where he approached a home on Orange Blossom Circle. He banged on the door, demanding to use a telephone. The homeowner, Teresa Stanley, told News10 she would not let Kelley in, but was bringing a phone to him when she noticed his jumpsuit and heard emergency sirens. According to Stanley, at that point Kelley moved between the door and her. Stanley ran from her home to another house on the street where she knew her neighbor was home. As she was dialing 911 from the neighbor's phone she saw her garage door open and Kelley drive away in her champagne-colored Toyota. The Folsom Police Department and California Highway Patrol air units picked up the Toyota in the Fair Oaks area. Police think Kelley changed clothes at an apartment complex at Winding Way and Fair Oaks Boulevard where they spotted the car. Police pursued the Toyota for less than a mile on nearby Sunrise Boulevard when Kelley lost control and the vehicle went up over a sidewalk at Sunrise and Archer Road. Police said Kelley started to run and then stopped and surrendered. |
