| Cause of Cascade County inmate’s death suicide |

An inmate found unresponsive Friday at the Cascade County Detention Center died from hanging himself, according to the Division of Criminal Investigation of the Montana Department of Justice and Fergus County coroner. The investigation still is in progress, but the inmate was in lockdown and alone in his cell at the time of his death, said John Barnes, a spokesman for the Justice Department. “Thus far the investigation has found no indications of foul play,” Barnes said. The Cascade County Sheriff’s Office asked the DIC to investigate. The sheriff’s office runs the detention center, which holds both county and state Department of Corrections inmates. Read More. |
