Convicted killer reported as walkaway from Billings prerelease center

BILLINGS -

A man convicted of kidnapping and negligent homicide was reported as a walkaway from the Alpha House Men's Prerelease Center on Tuesday night.

Mikel Knick, 32, was placed on escape status by the Montana Department of Corrections.

Knick was convicted in 2011 for the death of a man he suspected stole from his Forsyth home.

Knick punched the victim in the head several times, causing him to die.
