| Oregon prisons inspector general threatens to sue Department of Corrections, Director Colette Peters |

The inspector general for the Oregon Department of Corrections has notified the state that he plans to sue the agency and its director, Colette Peters. Leonard Williamson, 50, who has served as the agency's inspector general since 2011, filed his notice with the state earlier this month. The tort claim seeks $3 million and accuses Peters and the state of "injuring his professional reputation." The notice, which also names "Does 1-10," refers to the date of Williamson's injury as "April 15 and continues to the present time." Williamson could not be immediately reached for comment. The inspector general, a position created in 1990, is responsible for handling issues of suspected, alleged or actual misconduct within the corrections department, according to the agency's web site.
