| Prison Population Task Force Formed to Address Minnesota's Growing Inmate Population |

ST. PAUL (MNN) -- A D-F-L state Senator has asked a Prison Population Taskforce to review issues related to the growing inmate population in Minnesota. State Senator Ron Latz of St. Louis Park says there are currently more than 500 inmates being housed in county jails across Minnesota because there isn't room for them in the state's prisons. Because of that the Department of Corrections has requested over 140 million dollars in state bonding money to build a new prison housing unit at the Minnesota Correctional Facility at Rush City.
