A Gallatin County jail inmate accused of assaulting a detention officer as part of an escape plan in February has pleaded guilty to an amended charge. Initially charged with felony counts of escape and assaulting a peace officer, Jeffery Allen Daems, 23, pleaded guilty Tuesday to a sole count of felony criminal endangerment as part of a plea agreement struck between attorneys. Daems is slated to be sentenced by Gallatin County District Court Judge Mike Salvagni on Oct. 26. As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors will recommend that Daems be sentenced to three years with the Montana Department of Corrections and pay a $500 fine. Read More. |
