| Chiefs worry parole system has become porous |

State parole officials plan to meet Friday with Rochester-area police chiefs who are worried that the parole system has become porous, with too many paroled criminals committing new crimes, including murders. Police chiefs and other local officials, especially Gates Supervisor Mark Assini, have been particularly critical of parole's leadership in Albany. Communication with officials there is limited and confusing, Assini said. The parole division is failing to assure the public that state officials are concerned about a recent spate of violent crimes allegedly committed by parolees, Assini said.
