Summit of Hope helps parolees, probationers get on their feet

Renee Argo just wants a chance to become a productive member of society.

The 44-year-old Silvis woman was released from federal prison in July, after serving 12 years on drug charges.

“The biggest challenge is finding a job,” Argo said. “With a criminal background, a lot of employers don’t want to hire someone with a felony crime.”

Argo, who is serving five years of supervised release, was able to find a job, but there are still some things, such as modern banking, that she doesn’t understand.
