MANSFIELD -- The inmate who reportedly took a female corrections officer hostage Sunday at the Mansfield Correctional Institution is a double-murderer. WFMJ Channel 21 in Youngstown reported Sunday that it received a phone call from Jermaine McKinney saying he wanted to speak to people involved in his conviction. McKinney told a Channel 21 reporter that he would release his hostage after his questions were answered. He ended the phone call saying he had to go and needed to call his children, WFMJ reported. McKinney, 34, was convicted of the December 2005 murders of a 43-year-old woman and her 70-year-old mother. He is serving two life sentences without the possibility of parole. Read More. |
