Grant to bring life to historic building

An eighty-year-old building will soon get a face lift after receiving a $600,000 grant.

The Hubbard Dormitory sits off Highway 83. It used to house black female students training to earn teaching certificates.

The building was built in the 1930s and was part of the Hubbard Campus.

It later phased from a community college to an African-American training school. That's how Monroe County Commissioner Larry Evans remembers it.
