GRAND ISLAND -- The heads of all three local law enforcement agencies in Grand Island have endorsed interim Hall County Corrections Director Todd Bahensky to be appointed to the job permanently. The appointment could happen as early as Tuesday, during a 9:30 a.m. Hall County Board of Corrections meeting. Accolades for Bahensky were sent last week to the Hall County board from Grand Island Police Chief Steve Lamken; Chris Kolb, who serves as captain of the Nebraska State Patrol Troop C office; and Bahensky’s current boss, Hall County Sheriff Jerry Watson, who gave Bahensky temporary leave as a sheriff’s captain in order to help the county with the jail. Bahensky formerly served as a Hall County corrections officer when the jail was under the sheriff’s jurisdiction. “Should the county board decide to offer the corrections director permanently to Capt. Bahensky, I will applaud that decision,” Sheriff Watson wrote in a letter to board Chairman Scott Arnold. “Although the Sheriff’s Office will lose a good man, the Department of Corrections, its employees, the inmates and our community will benefit from this decision.” Read More. |
