| Texarkana to use CodeRED system for sex offender notifications |

TEXARKANA (KSLA) - Police in Texarkana, Arkansas say the CodeRED Emergency Notification System will now include notification of Level 3 and 4 sex offenders moving into the the city. The department says it will release level 3 and level 4 sex offender information in accordance with the Sex and Child Offender Registration and the Community Notification Guidelines promulgated by agencies to inform the public of a sex offender's release, "when the release of such information will enhance public safety and protection. It is unclear if the new implement in the CodeRED system was prompted by an incident last week where a 16-year-old foreign exchange student was removed from the home of a convicted sex offender. Police said they suspect 55-year-old Ronald Dale Eitel's wife used another name and listed herself as a single parent when she applied to house an exchange student. Read More. |
