A Tulsa man accused of stabbing his nephew several times was arrested after police surrounded his home in north Tulsa late Tuesday.

Police learned of a reported stabbing in the 1100 block of North Florence Place about 11:45 p.m. and found the victim lying on the street covered in blood. The man had been stabbed at least four times in the back.

Officers attempted to stem the bleeding, but the victim was having trouble breathing and began to lose consciousness, police said. While officers treated the man, a woman exited a nearby residence and told them the victim was stabbed by his uncle during a fight, according to an arrest report.

The woman told police the victim was drunk and had been "going crazy inside the house," the report states. She said her son — later identified as Coy Dean Gilliam, 44 — tried to calm his nephew down, but the situation escalated into a fight.
