| Former corrections officer found not guilty of charges |

A St. Francois County Jury deliberated for 45 minutes before finding a former ERDCC corrections officer not guilty of two charges of offender abuse by a corrections employee. David Shipley, 37, of Farmington, had originally been charged with three of the Class C felonies but the third charge was dropped before the trial was held last week. Shipley had been accused of using excessive force after an inmate had been restrained. His attorney, Jason Tilley, said he was grateful the jury came to the conclusion they did. He said they have taken the position from the beginning that Shipley acted in consistency with the law and policies of the Missouri Department of Corrections. Shipley was one of three former ERDCC corrections officers charged by the Missouri Attorney General's Office on the same day in July of 2014 but for separate and unrelated offenses. Read More. |
