| Bill proposed to save Hardin County Work Camp |

HARDIN CO. -- There's now another push to save the Hardin County Work Camp by Illinois Representative Brandon Phelps who introduced a new bill on Tuesday that would keep the facility from shutting it's doors. It has been on the brink of shutting down for more than a year despite a recommendation this summer from lawmakers who sit on the Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability to keep it open. "There's not teeth. it's just a suggestion, kinda more of less, but the governor still wants to close it, and I'm just trying to do everything I can to make sure it stays open," says Rep. Phelps. His bill would allocate state money for the camp to stay open which he says would benefit the inmates and the communities they serve. Read More. |
