The Dodge County Sheriff's Office is investigating a reported assault of a correctional officer by an inmate at Waupun Correctional Institution. The assault occurred shortly before 6 p.m. Oct. 30, Waupun Correctional authorities said. Sheriff Dale Schmidt said prison staff were able to respond and secure the inmate and tend to the officer's injuries, which were not serious.
