| Kansas prisons estimate big increases in prisoners |

TOPEKA, Kan. - As prison populations continue to rise in Kansas the focus turns to where to put the added inmates. "We have a plan in place to expand the El Dorado Correctional Facility by 512 beds," said Adam Pfannenstiel, spokesperson for the Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC). "If we did that we would be able to have the first 256 up and running by January of fiscal year 2018 and the second 256 beds by fiscal year 2019." The KDOC said that $27-million proposal for an expansion at the El Dorado Correctional Faciliy would help, but it wouldn't be enough. Read More. |
