| Inmate at South Dakota State Penitentiary dies |

The South Dakota Department of Corrections reported that a prison inmate from the state penitentiary in Sioux Falls has died. Officials found Elijah White Magpie unresponsive in his cell. Authorities say an autopsy is being performed. White Magpie, age 23, was serving a 25-year sentence out of Pennington County for aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer. Those charges stem from an incident back in 2013 where police found White Magpie waving a knife and advancing toward officers outside the Rapid City Public Library. Read More. |
