APPA Launches Questionnaire on DWI Offender Supervision |

Published: 02/14/2005 |
The American Probation and Parole Association (APPA) is beginning a three-year project that will identify needs and problems related to the community supervision of impaired driving offenders and study programs that are effective, innovative, and demonstrate a reduction in recidivism. If your agency or program supervises offenders (pre- and/or post-trial) that have been accused or convicted of driving while impaired (DWI) and placed under court-ordered supervision then APPA needs your help. Your assistance in the completion of this questionnaire will assist APPA in documenting current supervision practices and identifying programs and practices that are effective, innovative, and demonstrate reduction in recidivism of DWI offenders. The term driving while impaired (DWI) is being used as an inclusive and generic term because several terms (e.g., driving under the influence [DUI] driving while intoxicated [DWI] are frequently used interchangeably). Impaired drivers include those affected by any psychoactive substance including alcohol and other drugs, including prescription drugs.
