Nevada Governor Kenny Guinn told KLAS a big change may be in store for the state's women's prison in North Las Vegas. Within the last two months, an officer reportedly impregnated an inmate, while a second officer is accused of smuggling drugs to prisoners. A private company, the Corrections Corporation of America, manages the facility. The company's state contract is up next year, and Guinn hints it may not be renewed. Guinn says the state recently resumed control of a juvenile detention center that had been under private management. |
