| Nearly 125 Prison Jobs unfilled, Corrections Director 'nervous' |

(KUTV) Nearly 125 correctional officer positions at the Utah State Prison are empty, and Corrections Director Rollin Cook said he is "nervous every day" about staffing levels inside the aged, sprawling facility. "As a correctional officer, I know how important it is to be fully staffed, and the difference that can make when you have something that goes bad," Cook said in an interview with 2News. "There's always that worry. Thankfully, the training that our officers have, the determination and the dedication to do their jobs, help us carry the day. "But sooner or later, that's going to break. You see it in other facilitiesacross the country, and you worry that today is going to be our day." The vacant jobs represent about 20% of the sworn officer force at the prison---and the Department of Corrections is struggling to fill the positions despite a marketing campaign with newspaper, billboard and radio ads.
