| Prisoner tracking program fails despite costing millions |

NEW ORLEANS -- An attempt to morph antiquated computer systems used by the Louisiana Department of Corrections to track prisoners into a modern, web-based system has cost the state millions with little to show for it. Earlier this year when the department went live with the new system that it has spent at least the past four years building, it failed, leading to three weeks worth of redundant work for the state’s already overburdened probation and parole officers.
