Parolee's crime spree begs questions of parole system

MIDLAND, MI (WNEM) -

Police said Gregory Allen Rose broke into a Midland County home, murdered the owner and set her house on fire.

It happened not long after Rose, a parolee, cut off his tether early last Thursday morning.

Chris Gautz is with the department of corrections.

"It's something we take very seriously and it's why we have an entire unit dedicated to it," Gautz said.

He said as soon as someone removes their tether authorities are alerted.
