| Officer shot in arm during struggle Sunday night, LPD chief says |

LINCOLN, Neb. —One person was killed and a Lincoln police officer sustained a gunshot wound to the arm during a struggle Sunday night, Chief Jim Peschong said. It all unfolded when officers went to the area of N. 73rd and Adams streets at about 8:50 p.m. Sunday to check a license plate on a car. Two people were inside the car, and the license plate came back stolen, Peschong said. Zachary J. Grigsby, 29, the man in the driver's seat, had two felony arrest warrants in Merrick County: one for terroristic threats, the other for obstructing a peace officer. According to the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services, Grigsby served three years in jail for theft by unlawful taking. He was released in May. Read More. |
