| Lawmaker proposes bill to increase jail time for carjackers |

According to data from the Tennessee Department of Corrections, carjackers in Tennessee serve only 30 percent of their sentence. One lawmaker wants to change that. Jessica Rutherford was almost carjacked in October. According to police, 27 year old Latitus White forced his way into their car, and began beating up her and the others in the car. "He threatened to kill us if we called 911 or if we stopped or got off at the next exit,” said Rutherford. Rutherford and the other passengers were able to escape, but she said his crime should not go unpunished. Read More. |
