| Power restored to Oklahoma correctional center |

HELENA, Okla. (AP) - Officials say power has been fully restored to the James Crabtree Correctional Center after the facility lost power over the weekend. The Enid News & Eagle (http://bit.ly/1NsBLEi ) reports that the correctional facility lost power Sunday due to icy weather in the area. Oklahoma Department of Corrections spokesman Alex Gerszewski said power was restored Tuesday evening. He said that backup generators immediately turned on and the facility was never fully without power. Gerszewski said in a written statement that temperatures in the housing units never went below 64 degrees Fahrenheit, even though heaters were not working. He also said that inmates were given additional blankets, and that the only inconvenience was that inmates had to be served two cold meals on Monday. Read More. |
